Knitting, according to many studies, is a hobby that keeps us intellectually stimulated and wards off dementia and Alzheimer’s. Bring your holiday knitting along as Joanne guides the class in some intellectually stimulating conversation about our favorite pastime.
Topics covered this time are:
December 3:
--Knitting and Community Building: charity knitting, knitting for relatives, knitting for peace? What are the ways that knitting builds community, both historically and today?
December 10:
--Knitting and the Internet: Knitters are all over the web! How has the internet affected knitting? We’ll talk about websites, listservs, databases, and online purchasing. What are your tricks and favorite spots online? What are the downfalls of these web attractions for knitters?
December 17:
--Knitting and Religion: Prayer shawls, mindful knitting, yamulkahs and hijab…there are many ways to incorporate religious ritual and spirituality into knitting, and knitting into the spiritual. Religions cover every topic, including how and when it is ok to knit! Join Joanne in an academic, positive and sharing discussion about this part of our knitting culture.
